BEST GIANTS CLOTHES FOR WOMEN

Posted by Natalie on October 19th, 2008, under Uncategorized

Years back, it was difficult to find flattering MLB apparel for women. Women’s jerseys and fitted t-shirts were rare. Stylish clothing was non-existent.

Well, gone are the days of the big jerseys and plain shirts.

First came the market’s biggest movement targeting female fans: the pink infiltration. Making a jersey pink doesn’t encourage all women to purchase it. Pink jerseys actually make me cringe.

Then Alyssa Milano’s MLB line, *touch* came along. Her line is fun and refreshing. *touch* provides women with an option that isn’t the usual girl-cut version of the guy’s shirt. Ms. Milano’s MLB clothing is my attire of choice.

The offseason (at least as far as the San Francisco Giants are concerned) is a perfect time to stock up on Giants gear. This season’s top three designs are as follows:

San Francisco Giants Womens Modal V-Neck Top “touch”™ by Alyssa Milano
This shirt is subtly supportive of the team. The only logo present is on the end of the sleeve. This is a perfect shirt to wear to work if you’re going directly to the game. The long sleeves are perfect for the cool San Francisco nights.

San Francisco Giants Women’s Braided Strap Tank touch™ by Alyssa Milano
This tank top is another design that has a discreet logo. Hot summer day games would be the perfect time to wear this tank top. Paired with some jeans and you’ll be ready to go.

San Francisco Giants Women’s Silk Satin Jacket “touch”™ by Alyssa Milano
More useful for San Francisco fans, many women can enjoy this jacket. With the silk satin design, there’s no need to sacrifice fashion for comfort. It’s very stylish and modern, but it’s also quite warm?and we know how cold it gets as the San Francisco fog rolls in.

The entire *touch* collection is perfect for a ballgame, but it’s also chic enough for normal wear. Finally, sports apparel designers have recognized the need for better women’s wear. Now, not only will you find me cheering my beloved team on, you’ll see me wearing an outfit that doesn’t look like I stole it out of my boyfriend’s closet.

WASHINGTON POST ARTICLE ON ALYSSA

Posted by Natalie on October 4th, 2008, under Uncategorized

The latest entrant in the field of celebrity designers has proven herself a dab hand at making money and keeping herself relevant. If not for the flurry of activity surrounding the expansion line of women’s sports clothing, this dynamo might’ve been just what Henry Paulsen ordered to turn the failing economy around.

Milano burst upon the scene as spunky Samantha Micelli on ’80s sitcom fave “Who’s the Boss.” Then, just to keep us guessing, she reinvented herself in critically acclaimed cable releases like “Casualties of Love: the Long Island Lolita Story” and “Confessions of a Sorority GIrl” before moving on to ground-breaking projects like “Poison Ivy II.”

But before surrendering fully to late night cable, Milano engineered her own renaissance by landing regular gigs on “Melrose Place,” “Spin City,” “Charmed” and lately, “My Name Is Earl.” An avid sports fan, Milano also reported on TBS during the 2007 World Series and blogs about baseball for MLB.com.

And Milano has another outlet for her love of sports: Her line of Women’s sports apparel, Touch. Here’s her MLB range, though her empire stretches across sporting lines into NFL, NBA and NHL apparel as well. Clever girl that she is, Milano realized we members of the gentler sex would rather be wearing this St. Louis Cardinas spaghetti strap sundress than a lumpy man-sized sweatshirt. And, Jessica Simpson, you might do well to trade in that much maligned pink Tony Romo jersey for this goth-inspired black glass Cowboys logo pendant.

“I wanted to create a line that women could wear anywhere and not just to a game,” said Milano. “I wanted to bridge the game with the after-party and do for baseball what the hip-hop world did for the NBA.”

Thanks, Alyssa Milano, for understanding the distaff fan base. Now if only we could get Tim Gunn to work on redesigning the men’s offerings.
