News: How Alyssa Milano Scores Big in the Sports-Fan Fashion Biz

Posted by Natalie on February 2nd, 2011, under Alyssa and News

We know Alyssa is a huge sports fan. She even has her own sports fashion line for females. Here’s a great article where she talks about the success of her fashion line.

You don’t have to be male to be a sports fan. But just a few years ago, it really helped to be male if you wanted to look good in a team jersey. As they prepare to watch the Super Bowl this year, women fans who want to wear a jersey that actually fits now have far more choices.

And for that, they owe some thanks to 38-year-old TV star Alyssa Milano, best known for her roles in Who’s the Boss and Charmed. Milano, a fanatical baseball lover, holds a season ticket to the Los Angeles Dodgers games and counts herself a devoted follower of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Kings.

She helped sports leagues see the error of their ways four years ago, when she launched the Touch line of team-sports apparel, which includes jackets, tops and jeans specifically tailored to women.

Renee Zellweger and Alyssa Milano enjoyed a night out at Katsuya in Los Angeles last week. Renee’s beau Bradley Cooper also joined them for dinner.

Bradley recently opened up about his feelings for girlfriend Renee, insisting he “can’t say enough” about his superstar partner. The couple met on the set of movie thriller “Case 39″ in 2006, and they have been dating for more than a year.

Alyssa recently made headlines for criticizing Lindsay Lohan’s parents. The star insists early stardom doesn’t turn youngsters into wild things – bad parenting and poor judgment does.

Alyssa: Oil Bad, Twitter Good, Jersey Shore Just Fine

Posted by Aniek on July 26th, 2010, under News

Sure, some of Alyssa Milano’s internet activity may be a bit bizarro, but we can’t dog on the babe for giving a damn. In fact, how much she cares—from her early involvement in Haiti (she was one of the first celebs to donate big money to relief efforts) to supporting a handful of causes via her Twitter—is exactly why we totally heart her.

So we were so thrilled to catch up with the chatty lady at the VH1 Do Something Awards, where Alyssa was nominated for her do-gooder work. Looking fabo in a shiny silver top and black pants, A.M. sweated out the heat to gab with us about the oil spill, Twitter, and, of course, Jersey Shore:

As someone who’s been very outspoken for the Gulf Coast, how do you feel President Obama is handling the oil spill?
“I think, like most people, I’m suspicious that we don’t have all the information. And I think that’s been very disappointing. And whether that be BP’s call or Obama’s call, I’m not sure, I’m not a politician. But as a civilian, I feel like having information is empowerment and I feel like we don’t have it all. I mean, they’ve been talking about this cracked sea bed floor on the internet for probably the last two weeks and they’re just now admitting it, so it’s stuff like that that I get suspicious of.”

How would you defend Twitter against people who say it’s just another social media site ruining our teens?
“I think that my last statement actually defended Twitter greatly, which was that I knew about the cracked sea floor a couple of weeks ago and that’s through Twitter. I think that any time that media access is limited, somehow Twitter gets a way to get the information out there. I didn’t understand Twitter until the protests in Iran and then I started following some college students who were Tweeting real time about the protests. There was something so personal and relevant about getting their immediate information through my own computer screen rather than through the filter of mass media.”

You’ve mentioned in the past that you’re not a big fan of Jersey Shore. Any change of heart?
“I’ve really never seen an episode. That whole thing came about because someone asked me—actually at a UNICEF event which was so bizarre. But they asked me what I thought of Jersey Shore, and I’ve never seen it but my husband showed me a promo on YouTube and, you know, I don’t think I’ll be watching that show. The next day it was everywhere that I hated Jersey Shore. I’ve never seen the show, people seem to enjoy it though. So as long as it’s not hurting people.”
